South Korean model-actor Lee Soo-hyuk has been cast in the upcoming MBC period drama “The Scholar Who Walks the Night” as one of the main characters, local media reported Monday.

Lee was reportedly offered the role early on and he considered other options before taking up the role, his agency said.

Based on a popular Web comic of the same title, “The Scholar Who Walks the Night” tells the tale of a vampire scholar during the Joseon Dynasty.

The drama also stars Lee Joon-gi and Shim Chang-min of K-pop duo TVXQ.

The TV series is set to hit the airwaves in July following the conclusion of “Agreeably Warm.”
