Winner stages debut on TV music show
Rookie K-pop group Winner made its debut TV performance with songs “Empty” and “Color Ring” on the SBS music show “Inkigayo” on Sunday.
The members of the idol group, wearing trendy suits, received a big round of applause for their flawless performances and skillful manners onstage.
Winner dropped its debut EP “2014 S/S” on Aug. 12 and made its official debut with an onstage performance at the AIA Real Life: Now Festival 2014 on Aug. 15.
Winner’s debut track “Empty” has drawn positive reactions at home, topping local music charts within hours of its release. It remained in the No. 1 spot for the sixth consecutive day on six major local music charts.
Winner was first introduced through the reality survival show “Who Is Next: WIN,” YG CEO Yang Hyun-suk’s latest project to pick members for his newest boy band.
During the program, Team A and Team B, all composed of trainees under the label, vied for a chance to debut in the winner-takes-all competition. The victory went to Team A, which is now the group Winner.
Other K-pop stars including Secret, SHINee’s Taemin, Red Velvet, 4Minute’s HyunA and B1A4 also took to the stage alongside Winner.
