Jisoo of girl group Black Pink talked about the group’s cheer stick in a live broadcast held via Naver’s V app Sunday.

Cheering for pop stars with cheer sticks or light sticks is part of K-pop fan culture. Almost all K-pop groups with established fan bases have uniquely designed cheer sticks.

Debuted in 2016, Black Pink is yet to officially designate its official cheer stick.

In Sunday’s broadcast, a fan asked Jisoo about the design of the group’s cheer stick as she hinted at the release of the cheer stick in one of the recent episode of the group’s reality show “Black Pink House.”

“I know how it looks! Are you curious?” Jisoo said archly.

“I think it’s really difficult to come up with the design for a cheer stick,” she said. “Because there are male fans as well as female fans. We wanted to a design that would work for everyone regardless of age or gender.”

“If it’s too pretty and cute like a magic wand, male fans or older fans may feel embarrassed to hold it when they cheer for us,” she said. “But it shouldn’t be too simple and rough as we’re a girl group.”

“So we mulled over the idea. I hope Blinks will like it,” she said referring to the group’s fans.

Naver’s real-time broadcasting app V allows fans to interact with their favorite K-pop stars through live broadcasts. The app is available for Android and iOS. For more information, visit http://www.vlive.tv.
