[V Report Plus] GFriend barely explains Umji’s absence in V app broadcast
Six-member girl group GFriend did their latest V app broadcast without Umji Tuesday, who was found to be recovering from a leg injury Wednesday.
GFriend’s Tuesday show was designed to celebrate main vocalist Yuju’s 19th birthday. The live show, which took place in Sourcemusic headquarters, mainly demonstrated how impressed Yuju was by the slew of gifts from fans.

Naver V app viewers asked about her whereabouts early in the show. In response members raised their thumbs, saying “here is Umji” -- the Korean word “umji” means thumb. The members quickly turned their attention to the gifts.
After looking at all of Yuju’s birthday presents, they were asked again about Umji. Sowon, leader of the group, stepped up and said in a playful tone: “Umji is sleeping. She is having a deep sleep. Don’t you worry.”
Other members raised their thumbs again and aimed them at the camera.
At the end of the broadcast, members took turns kissing Yuju on the cheek, with none of the members doing so on behalf of Umji.
Sourcemusic later said that Umji will halt her activities due to a broken leg.
Naver’s real-time broadcasting app V allows fans to interact with their favorite K-pop stars through live broadcasts. The app is available for Android and iOS. For more information, visit http://www.vlive.tv.
