In one story, a man in his 20s became envious after his friend showed off an expensive watch. The man later bought a fake watch that looked exactly like the one his friend owned. He brought it to a gathering of his friends the next time.

“Everyone was impressed. One of them asked if he could try it on and I said yes. But he dropped it. Then the friend who has that expensive watch said, ‘You know, you can get that fixed at the department store.’ But the smirk on his face seemed to reflect that he knew my watch was fake. I was so embarrassed and left the scene in a hurry,” read cartoonist Kim Poong.

He said to the man, “It is superficial to be concerned about expensive watch brands.”

Kim Poong advised the man not to hang out with friends who are superficial enough to be impressed by an expensive watch.
Joo Ho-min said, “I think that some men perceive watches and cars as indications of wealth. I guess men are more concerned with watches, because watches are accessories for men. Not many men wear earrings or rings.”

He agreed that the situation the man faced must have been embarrassing.
