National Liberation Day in South Korea was made more special this year on Naver’s V app with the appearance of a number of top K-pop groups including Monsta X, Apink, Wonder Girls, Beast and VIXX.

Although none of the groups had regularly scheduled broadcasts, they all checked in during their busy day to talk a little with their fans and keep them updated on what was going on in their lives.

Monsta X's I.M and Jooheon (Naver V app)

First up was Monsta X at 3 p.m. Rapper I.M turned on the app at the MBC network building, telling fans that fellow member Jooheon was a special MC at MBC’s music program.

“As a fellow member on the rapper and maknae (youngest member) line, I’ve come to support him,” he said. I.M stopped by a nearby cafe to pick up Jooheon’s favorite drink, a Caffe Americano, before heading to his waiting room.

“I just wrapped up rehearsal,” said a surprised Jooheon as he accepted his coffee. The two members talked a bit to their fans before wrapping up the live broadcast. I.M also mentioned that he would be hosting Arirang TV’s “Simply K-pop” in English on Monday.

Next was Apink, who had just finished recording their last on-air promotion for their song “Remember.”

“Our promotions were just five weeks this time,” they said. “Please still keep listening to ‘Remember’!”

The girls also pointed out that it was National Liberation Day and spent a moment to pledge their allegiance to the Korean flag. They also mentioned their upcoming concert “Pink Island,” which will take place next weekend.

Wonder Girls' Sunmi and Yubin (Naver V app)

Wonder Girls’ Sunmi and Yubin turned on the app around 7 p.m. They had just finished taping a performance on a music program and were at a meetup with fans.

“Our makeup is intense today,” Sunmi said “We gave it a lot of power.”

The two ladies, who were decked up in funky rock-style outfits, explained why they were conducting a surprise broadcast on the V app.

“We were supposed to have Yubin and Sunmi’s ‘You & Me’ as a live show on Monday, but we had a scheduling conflict. So it will be recorded,” Yubin said. “This is a surprise gift to apologize for that.”

VIXX (Naver V app)

Boy groups Beast and VIXX also made brief appearances on V. Beast turned on the camera just before a fan meetup, while VIXX had just wrapped up its own event for fans with a school concept.

Naver’s newly launched V app, which allows viewers to see stars’ day-to-day life and interact with them in real time, is now available on Android and iOS. Visit http://www.vlive.tv/ to download the latest segment.
