Wearing a black sleeveless tank top and comfy-looking checkered flannel pajama bottoms, he began to squeeze out turquoise acrylic paint. Then, using a spatula and a palette knife, he added the color to a large canvas with a sketch done in pencil. For almost 40 minutes, the idol filled in what looked like hands and arms, finishing up with small brushstrokes.

Then he moved on to yellow, mixing the paint for a slightly lighter tone. Showing it to the viewers, Mino finally spoke up and said, “I am making an egg pancake.”

He took a short break after spending an hour on the canvas and thanked fans for sending supportive messages online.

“I should be making music but all I am doing is painting,” he murmured. He then assured fans that they didn’t need to worry about him since he could manage on his own just fine.

“It doesn’t happen often,” said Mino, “but when I hear someone blaming the staff or those around me for, say, a certain fashion or hairstyle, it really gets to me.”

He reminded everyone that he is the one who decides what he does.

In the video, he plays a dual role: Off-screen, munching on chips and pizza, he pops a tape into his VHS player and watches a black-and-white film in which his doppelganger gambles and wins a briefcase full of money thanks to an attractive co-conspirator.

The new single combines a variety of genres, ranging from EDM to rock, and pays homage to the pop sounds popular in the 1980s and ’90s, breaking new ground for the performer.

It also marks the first time the former Wanna One member will be able to promote himself fully. He has finally settled conflicts over management issues, raising expectations for Kang, who managed to top a music chart program with his solo debut EP without any TV appearances.

He has just wrapped up his first solo fan meeting tour, which brought him to Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Seoul.

“I can’t believe this is the last day (of busking),” said Chen.

“This is when we need to be the most vigilant since we have to put on the best performance,” said Cho, taking in the view of Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province.

Over breakfast, the pair talked about their childhood memories and Cho said maybe they should have performed in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, Chen’s hometown.

“Busking in front of Chen’s birthplace,” joked Cho, and Chen told him he wasn’t that old.

“But I do have a forest dedicated by fans, near where my parents live,” admitted the idol, “and it makes me proud to think that through music I have had a good influence on people.”

They began practicing before heading back to Seoul, starting with the new song they’d created together about the four days they’d spent busking and their feelings about the experience. As Chen had suggested at the start of the project, the vocalist wrote the lyrics and Cho composed.

Byeongkwan expressed his joy with a rap song, then passed the baton to Donghun, causing the main vocalist to beg for mercy after a few seconds.

The five-piece act shared the news that it had come out with a third EP, “Under Cover: The Mad Squad,” five months after “Under Cover.”

After main dancer Byeongkwan demonstrated the choreography for the title track, “Savage,” Donghun sang part of the next song, “Slow Dive,” after introducing it as a fan favorite. It combines sexy dance moves with touching lyrics about having a broken heart, he said.

The fourth track, “So Sick,” is in a way even sadder, about lovers who cannot speak the truth despite being on the verge of a breakup, explained Jun.
