They gathered one by one and aimed jokes at each other as usual, but when the first of the three candidates began to play, everyone turned serious.

Donghae and Eunhyuk danced to the groove of the song and Ryeowook joined in, commenting that it would make for good choreography.

“Are you already creating the choreography?” asked Leeteuk.

The second song, an uptempo dance number, instantly set Donghae in motion. Kyuhyun, Siwon and Ryeowook looked at the bandmate with questions in their eyes and Donghae denied that he had made it.

After hearing all the choices, Leeteuk commented that the first song was different from their existing repertoire, and Eunhyuk and Donghae agreed, voting in favor of it.

The leader, however, chose the last one, temporarily titled “Fire,” saying it had a strong impact and would make a good lead track. Yesung and Siwon gave the green light for the upbeat song.

“It will be more fun to make,” said Siwon.

Then Kyuhyun chimed in: “It will be also great for concerts.”

Torn between the two, the members agreed to make the final decision after recording both.

He first had a short Q&A session that covered his birthday (Oct. 10), his blood type (A), his zodiac sign (Sagittarius) and his hometown (Busan).

When asked about his hobbies, in addition to gaming and skateboarding, the idol mentioned practicing for upcoming performances. Being an avid movie fan, he had to think before coming up with his favorite -- the “Dark Knight” trilogy -- but did not hesitate for a second to name his four cats as the beings he treasures most.

As if on cue, cats began to approach him -- the interview was done in a cat cafe -- licking and sniffing Kang.

Although he was willing to give out many tidbits about himself, the singer said he would not be sharing his recent playlist.

“I have been listening to songs for my new album these days and it would be a huge spoiler, so I will have to keep them to myself for the time being,” he said with a smile.

“I love rainy days and this sounds like it’s raining,” she said, turning her head to show a set with water pouring down behind the stage.

“(Listening to it) makes me a little sentimental,” she added, flashing a grin.

As for her hair, swept back into a ponytail, she said: “Everyone was trying on new styles and I felt as if I am always the same. And I didn’t get to change my (hair) color so I went for this instead.”

The idol usually wears her hair in a chin-length bob, but in the video she had pulled it back and added an extension to create a waist-skimming ponytail. Mina had told her how heavy her extension was when they were performing “Fancy,” said Jihyo -- and now that she has worn one herself, she totally understands.

It was so heavy that she slid back while dancing -- causing her to make her first, and last, mistake during the making of the music video.

Yabuki Nako greeted fans, telling them how excited she was since it was the first time the girl group had played a stand-alone concert outside Korea and Japan.

Kwon Eunbi and Kim Chaewon were busy practicing Thai, and Jang Wonyoung joined to show off what she had learned. “All my love to Wizone,” she said in the local language, referring to the band’s fan community.

“I saw some of our Thai fans at the airport and before the concert and was surprised by how loud they are. And I can’t wait to go onstage,” said Sakura Miyawaki, putting the final touches on her hair.

“I am so nervous,” said Kim Minju 30 minutes before the concert. She had a solo piano performance as well. Of the letters the band received from Thai fans, she said, “Our fans were so passionate, I didn’t notice the time passing.”
