Ailee, who just returned to the K-pop scene after more than two years, shared why she landed on hip-hop for her new single “Room Shaker.”

“After ‘I Will Go to You Like the First Snow’ became my biggest hit, I’ve been contemplating what kind of song I should release next time, and to tell the truth, it’s been a burden,” said Ailee in a video of her “Butterfly” EP showcase held in Seoul on Tuesday.

She continued, “I had recorded as many as 20 songs to choose a lead track, and I was all caught up in the thought that I shouldn’t get behind the trend.”

“Room Shaker” is a fierce hip-hop track that diverges from her previous sonic style, and she explained that she didn’t want to do something obvious.

“My new single doesn’t emphasize my vocal prowess. Instead, I paid attention to its powerful choreography and performance. I also tried to deliver its lyrics word by word delicately,” she added.

The “Butterfly” EP features 10 songs, including “Love,” which features Chen of EXO, “Headlock,” “Nothing at All” and “Ain’t that Pretty.”

Gearing up for his solo return, Ha Sung-woon dropped a teaser video in the leadup to the release of his second EP, “BXXX.”

Befitting of the title of his upcoming single “Blue,” the singer is seen in a blue room in the cryptic blue-themed video.

Set to drop Monday, Ha’s new EP will feature five tracks, including “Bluemaze,’ “Riding,” “Excuse Me” and “What Are You Doing Today?!”

GFriend performs ‘Fever’ in casual outfits

GFriend danced to its single “Fever” in casual outfits.

In the dance practice video, the GFriend members are seen in black-and-white causal outfits and running shoes.

Marking the act’s first Korean release since “Sunrise,” “Fever” is lush with expressive vocals and various pop elements, mainly dominated by moombahton rhythms and beat drops. The song lyrically likens
the heat of romance to a tropical night phenomenon -- a prolonged heat wave that occurs on summer nights.

Currently on its Asian tour, GFriend is set to perform in cities including Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok through August.

The eight-track EP features “Mr. Blue,” “Smile,” “Wish,” “Paradise,” “Hope,” “Flower” and an instrumental version of “Fever.”

Jaeyoon and Taeyang put on aprons to cook birthday meals for their bandmates whose birthdays are in July.

The two members took on the challenge of cooking four dishes -- Chinese Mala-tang, steak, spicy buckwheat noodles and seaweed soup -- for Inseong, Dawon and Zuho.

Later in the clip, the birthday boys joined the chefs to try out the dishes, which they said were delicious enough to be sold in restaurants.

The nine-piece band recently returned with the single “RPM,” which leads its new EP of the same title.
