The septet has returned from its “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” tour that has stormed across the US and Europe, and Jin, J-Hope and Suga came out wearing yellow sunflower headpieces. Signifying their love for the Army fan club, the headpieces were apparently a penalty stemming from reality program “Run BTS!”

“This is what you call ‘airport look,’” said J-Hope to the camera cheerfully, pointing to his face.

The three kept the rest of their color palette monochrome, except for J-Hope’s green fanny pack slung across the shoulder from Pharrell Williams’ capsule collection for Chanel.

RM, V and Jungkook waved and bowed to the crowd before heading to their car, but it was Jimin who further stirred up fans. Wearing a black beanie and covering most of his face with a black mask and pair of sunglasses, Jimin took a selfie at the airport to mark six years since the band’s debut.

“Taking to live without notice makes it more fun,” he said, telling fans he wanted it to be a surprise offering for them.

The performer talked about a trailer for a TV program that showed the band’s trip to Japan. “I actually like rides at amusement parks, like roller coasters. But those at Fuji Q Highland were so scary,” he said of the theme park known for its small collection of record-breaking roller coasters.

“We rode two scary rides in a row. For the first one, I wanted to enjoy it and we also had a mission. But all I did was scream. The next one … was really terrifying. It is suspended in the air for a few seconds and then drops before you know it. I had to close my eyes thinking it would be better not to see anything,” Minhyun told fans.

The band spent a night at a ryokan, or traditional Japanese inn.

“Lying down to sleep together with everyone, it brought back a lot of memories. It felt so good and we talked about taking another trip later this year,” he said.

“Today is the day of the show,” said Ryujin, walking between hotel rooms with a selfie camera in hand to report on the other members’ progress.

“Lia is not dressed yet,” she said, flashing the camera to the bandmate.

“I’ve been to the gym in the morning and had my hair and makeup done,” said Lia, turning around in front of the camera in her pajamas. She went on to pick up a french fry from a table and was startled.

“How come this is so good?” she asked Yuna, who sneaked in for one herself. “We didn’t order this. It’s a secret!” they whispered reaching for another.

“You look like a butterfly,” said Yuna, returning to the camera ready for the fashion show admiring Lia’s look.

“I have wings on my back. I am going to fly to the venue,” Lia said in a black and leopard print dress.

“This is the first time we are being seen in New York, so we want to make a good impression,” said Ryujin, preparing herself for the camera with a fierce facial expression before breaking into a smile.

“It’s all about the eyes,” chimed in Yuna.

“I’ve been to a hot spring and had dinner with other members: udon and curry. It is nice to have a short break on my birthday,” he said, thanking fans for their congratulatory messages.

“My birthday usually comes during a busy time, which allows me to receive more. Last year we had a fan signing event and so many fans said ‘Happy Birthday’ in person. This year there was a handshaking event and I was grateful for all the birthday comments. Some even said it in Chinese,” said the China-born performer, switching between Korean and Chinese.

“I had a birthday cake, of course. They burst into the waiting room while I was having my makeup removed, just like last year,” he said with a chuckle. “I had cakes with fruit, and since I like fruit I probably ate more fruit than the actual cake part.”
