The long-awaited BTS perfumes were unveiled Thursday at a pop-up store in Seoul.

Global sensation BTS and Korean beauty brand VT cosmetics have teamed up to launch the limited edition fragrance line that features seven distinct scents.

To better reflect their sensibilities and charms, the members had met up with the renowned perfume creator Frederic Burtin in France last year.

The temporary store, set up at Lotte Department Store Avenuel in Jamsil, southern Seoul, saw hundreds of fans and beauty enthusiasts waiting in lines to get their first glimpse of the brand-new perfumes. As soon as the store opened at 10:30 a.m., a huge crowd flooded into the shop and products immediately flied off the shelves.

So for those wondering what the BTS-themed scents are like, here’s our bottle-by-bottle review.

1. Jin -- a warm floral scent Eau de Coton

image

Arriving with the comforting scent of freshly washed cotton and ending with a floral scent, “Eau de Coton” is an embodiment of spring fragrance. Falling in line with Jin’s heartthrob image, the perfume is described as a sweet scent that may remind people of their first romance on one sun-filled spring day. It’s not basic floral, as it’s a soft blend of rose, blackcurrant and violet, with a touch of unique spiciness. It may work well with the weather that calls for sundresses.

2. Jungkook -- a cool, oceanic scent Eau de Ocean

image

Imagine the dazzling emerald ocean and the blue sky -- that’s what Eau de Ocean is all about. Inspired by the fresh ocean-water scent, this perfume is an ultimate summer fragrance, mainly dominated by the intensity of woody note and cozy amber. Embodying Jungkook’s manly and boyish image, the not-too-sweet nor heavy marine-scented perfume may be a genderless choice.

3. Jimin -- a powdery vanilla scent Eau de Poudre

image

Explained as one of the most popular scents from the shop, Eau de Poudre will be your cup of tea if you are a fan of vanilla-tinged perfumes. With heavy notes of warm vanilla and soft powder, the perfume will also be a seasonal scent for autumn or winter. For those who prefer light floral scent, the only downside of Eau de Poudre might be its somewhat dizziness-invoking sweetness, but a moderate amount can be very seductive.

4. Suga -- a refreshing scent of nature Eau de Vert

image

Just like Suga’s pure and cool image, Eau de Vert is lively and fresh. Drawn by the freshness of nature, the scent strikes a right balance between cedar wood and delicate musk. Just like Eau de Ocean, this mild perfume may suit well for summer days and would be helpful when freshening up one’s mood.

5. J-hope -- a sweet and vibrant citrus scent Eau de Citrus

image

The grassy Eau de Citrus might be the most refreshing and fruity scent in the lineup. No other scent can describe J-Hope’s perkiness better than this one. While fragrance is highly personal, Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom-esque citrus perfume can be loved by both men and women, as it is not complicated nor layered with various notes. This is a good perfume to wear when one hopes to mask the sweat smell in hot weather.

6. V -- a dark, mysterious musky floral scent Eau de Musk

image

Serious and mysterious, Eau de Musk is a typical musk-heavy scent that goes well with V’s sophisticated yet undefinable image. Described as “a scent that keeps softness behind its glamor,” the perfume is a mix of musk, wood and floral. If you’re obsessed with musk, this one can be an easy-to-go item as it is not too intense.

7. RM -- strong woody scent Eau de Bois

image

Befitting the classy and charismatic image of the BTS leader, Eau de Bois gives off a masculine vibe thanks to its woody, spicy and musky notes. It’s an elegant and modern scent that one could use for official events, just like when RM gave a speech at the United Nations in clean-cut suits.

The pop-up store runs until June 9 and another one will be run on June 13-20 in Busan, the southern port city. A single bottle costs around $49. For now, the perfumes are available only at the pop-up stores in Korea and some Sephora stores in France. VT says their launch in other countries has not yet been decided.
