Wearing a black cap that said “Birthday Today” and a white T-shirt that said “Today is My Birthday,” she happily blew out the candles on not one, but three cakes.

“We just finished our two-day concert (in Seoul) and got a short break,” Dahyun explained. Although her bandmates couldn’t be there in person, Jihyo sang “Happy Birthday” over the phone and Sana sent a video message.

“My face is still a little swollen,” the idol said, covering her face with both hands. “Actually, I cried yesterday over dinner after the concert while I was talking to my bandmates,” she said sheepishly.

“I read all the letters you sent for my birthday. My parents read them with me and they said the letters brought tears to their eyes,” said the performer.

She also thanked the fans for organizing numerous congratulatory events, both online and off. “At the concert, so many fans sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to me together and I couldn’t stop myself from crying. I was so moved,” she said.

“We are having a really good time here. The weather is so nice and cool. But we miss you!” he said.

Bang Chan was joined by Han and Changbin, the other two members of 3Racha, a songwriting and production trio within the band. The band leader laughed so hard he cried as the others mercilessly teased and joked.

“I love the lyrics of this piece so much,” said Han, playing Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. Bang Chan and Changbin burst into laughter while Han put on a serious voice and continued to jokingly praise the lyrics to the piano music.

The trio then started listening to different songs on fan recommendations: They started out with GOT7’s “Eclipse” and then moved on to songs by Changbin and Han including cover versions of Khalid and Normani’s “Love Lies” and Chet Baker’s “I Fall in Love Too Easily.”

“Thank you so much for showing such great love for our EP. I really don’t know how to express my gratitude,” he said of his unit’s newly released EP, “NCT #127 We Are Superhuman,” which has topped iTunes album charts for 25 regions.

“I am so happy as every day it feels like I am building up memories with you fans,” said the performer as he munched on green grapes and tomatoes.

The nine-piece subunit of NCT had returned from a tour four days earlier -- after performing 29 shows in 20 cities over 1 1/2 months -- and showcased their new EP the next day. “I haven’t had time to unpack yet,” he told fans.

Taeyong had a hard time picking a favorite from the EP.

“I love all the tracks but I like ‘Paper Plane.’ We haven’t done such a cute song before, but it was surprisingly fun,” he said.

After breakfast the girls gathered at the garden of their hotel for a stroll. “The morning breeze is so nice,” said Lia, breathing in the fresh air.

Yuna was enjoying dessert, cake with milk, when Chaeryeong asked if they were having sushi for lunch. This elicited screams of joy from all the band members except Lia. “I haven’t tried sushi or raw fish ever,” she said with a sad face.

“Give it a try. Make this your first time,” coaxed Ryujin, but Lia said she couldn’t even imagine herself trying.

After lunch, the girl group paid a visit to Tower Records in Shibuya. “We are going to the fifth floor, dedicated to K-pop. I wish we had an album too and could find them here,” said Chaeryeong.

ITZY was looking at the racks of CDs featuring those of Twice, GOT7 and Stray Kids when their single “Dalla Dalla” started playing. “It’s our song! At Tower Records!” said Lia and Yezi before leaving their signatures at the record store.
