He has been working on the 80-minute documentary, a four-part YouTube Original series, for a year. It chronicles a decade of his life -- from his rise to stardom as a member of boy band 2PM and the establishment of his own music label to his fresh start as a newbie in the US, where Jay Z’s Roc Nation scooped him up and made him the agency’s first Asian artist.

The title of the film comes from a song Park released in 2018.

“I have not looked back over the past nine or 10 years. I’m always looking ahead, going for the next step. And at one point I wanted something that would let me remember what I’ve done,” he said when asked why he made the film.

More importantly, he said, he also wanted to break stereotypes -- about Koreans, Asians and pop idols.

“I wanted to show that anything is possible, that there is no limit to what you can achieve if you are brave and if you work hard with passion no matter who doubts you. Even if you were pushed into a certain frame,” said the artist.

“I have started from scratch and have paved my own way,” said the musician, who once described himself on Twitter as “a short Korean American kid from the suburbs of Seattle that owns two labels and is signed to Jay-Z.”

“I wanted to inspire and motivate people. I’m not supposed to be in this position, but I believed in myself. Sometimes that’s all it takes,” said Park.

“We are taking a short break after finishing taping a music program,” she said from a waiting room, expressing her gratitude for the fans’ enthusiasm. “I was moved seeing your wholehearted cheering. You gave us such energy.

“I took out my contact lenses, so I have to keep the smartphone close or I can’t read your messages,” explained the performer.

When fans commented on her hair color -- a darker blue than before -- she told them she’d dyed it the night before. “I had it done with Chaeyoung at 3 a.m.!” she said with a smile.

Although Dahyun was not yet hungry for lunch, she recommended cold noodles for her fans since the weather was so nice.

“In the morning I ate a lot,” she said. “Tteokbokki, rabokki, dumplings and bread.”

“I would not be exaggerating if I said it was the most fun I had in my whole life,” said Hyunjin.

The boy band had a morning break and decided to meet poolside before a rehearsal. I.N was delighted to see a waterproof camera for the first time and tested it by throwing it into the pool.

At the staff’s beckoning, the bandmates agreed to hold some races. Hyunjin gave the youngest band member a head start, but couldn’t rein in his competitive streak once he began swimming.

Bang Chan and Felix, happy to be back in the country where they were raised, upped the stakes by doing the butterfly stroke, and the leader beat Felix.

Hyunjin challenged Bang Chan to a tiebreaker but failed to outrace him.

Upon winning, Bang Chan reminded everyone that he used to be a competitive swimmer.

“We are rehearsing,” said the singer. While singing, he held fans’ attention with special-effect apps and by making hearts with his fingers.

Nam will be releasing a new song May 8, seven months after “Miss You.” He reported to his fans in a text message that he had finished shooting the music video in Mexico and was off to Jeju Island.

His recently launched podcast on K-pop has topped iTunes podcast charts in four countries and reigns in the music category on podcast charts in 22 countries. The singer also will tour 11 European cities beginning in June.
