K-pop stars Somin of KARD and CLC’s Seungyeon will take on the challenge of becoming beauty creators for a new TV show airing from this week.

The two singers will star in “Next Beauty Creators,” which airs Friday on cable channel OnStyle, alongside celebrity style guru Han Hye-yeon and other models and social media influencers.

Speaking at a press conference Wednesday, Somin discussed what viewers can expect from her.

“We recently released the single ‘Bomb Bomb,’ and colored contact lenses have been something I’ve always worn on stage, so I decided to make a video about contact lenses,” she said.

The new beauty-themed show is the latest Korean TV show to be broadcast via the internet as well, reflecting the growing popularity of K-beauty contents across streaming platforms in recent years.

In addition to the TV airing of the show, the seven cast members will upload a new video every Tuesday at 5 p.m. to their YouTube channel, as they battle it out to earn the most views and subscribers and the title of “next beauty creator.”

Seungyeon said while it is not easy to be all-natural as an idol, she would try her best to show her candid side.

“Sorn, one of my bandmates, is a YouTuber, and she gave me so much advice. She does editing and subtitles herself so I asked about everything including how to edit, opening and closing comments,” she said.

When she was struggling, Sorn told her to show viewers everything she wants to show. She added that as she’s been told she can look quite different depending on her styling, she wants to put on display different looks on her channel.

Somin, who has shared beauty tips as well as shown herself enjoying vacations as part of the show, also discussed her second video.
Talking about a travel vlog she filmed in Japan, she said, “I wanted to do something fun. I always go abroad for work so I wanted to capture something genuine like my reaction when I see something new for the first time.

When asked about what she wants to do for her YouTube channel, she says she would like to do makeup for her male bandmates J.Seph and B.M, as long as the two are on board.

The winner will get the backing of the cable network for their work as a beauty influencer for the period of one year, including collaboration opportunities and media appearances.

The first episode is to air at 5 p.m. on OnStyle D, the TV network’s YouTube channel, before being televised at 10:10 p.m.
