The “Save Me” recap is a weekly piece about BTS’ webtoon series. It is published every Thursday to give you the gist of the story, plus an analysis based on fans’ comments, and might contain spoilers.

Yoongi, better known as Suga in real life, was front and center in the latest episode, which began with a glimpse of his high school days.

What appeared to be a peaceful afternoon, with Yoongi playing the piano while Jungkook lay on a desk in a classroom, soon turned violent in a dramatic turn of events.

We don’t know all the details, but it was clear that Yoongi was in deep trouble when an expulsion notice appeared. “Expulsion: Yoongi Min,” the notice read. Effective June 25th.”

In the meantime, Jin was doing what he does best, rescuing the boys. He rushed upstairs and barged into Yoongi’s place with an emergency ax to rescue him from a burning apartment.

Jin saved Yoongi at the crucial moment, when he came within seconds of death, but one of the highlights of the episode was the chilling response from the younger band member after his rescue: “You should’ve just left me to die.”

Memorable moments

The defining moment came when Yoongi said the fire had been hot and suffocating, and that he had hoped he could finally die and “live a little.”
In the dark hospital ward, reflecting the serious tone of the scene, Jin was visibly shocked at Yoongi’s words.
We also saw Tae-hyung running wild, drawing graffiti and being chased by people who appeared to be police officers.

Fan reaction

Many fans were saddened by the episode, with one user on Line Webtoon writing, “I can’t believe I wait every week to be heartbroken.”

Another said, “Man, someone give Yoongi some happiness, please.” One fan sounded pessimistic: “I don’t think Seokjin is the one that is supposed to save Yoongi.”

What to expect next week

Yoongi has been saved -- but not really, in the sense that he holds a grudge against Jin for having saved him because he no longer wants to live.

But on the other hand, he’s in safe hands -- at least in the physical sense. We are likely to see more of what Tae-hyung is up to next week.
