Hwasa proud of solo single ‘Twit’

Hwasa is 100 percent satisfied with her debut solo single, released at 6 p.m. Wednesday, the member of girl group Mamamoo said on V Live.

The singer-rapper livestreamed on Naver’s V app an hour to the release of “Twit,” for which she helped compose and write the lyrics.

“It was actually an idea of my agency chief, Kim Do-hoon. He called me one day and asked, ‘Can I give you a present?’” she said.

It then took only two to three days to complete the song, with Hwasa suggesting its lyrics.

“Everything happened in such a short period of time. To exaggerate a little, it was so hectic that I couldn’t even find time to take a deep breathe.”

“Twit” is credited to two co-composers Kim Do-hoon and Park Woo-sang and three co-lyricists Kim, Park and Hwasa.

“To make a solo debut feels a lot different from just doing a solo performance. I know now what it is like when people say, ‘My shoulders are heavy.’”
