Right after releasing its new EP “Treasure Pt.2: Zero to One,” K-pop rookie boy band ATEEZ arrived at Twitter’s headquarters in Seoul on Tuesday evening, to meet with fans on Twitter’s Blueroom Q&A session.

The bandmates couldn’t hide their excitement to return to the music scene, following its debut last October. For starters, ATEEZ showed its freshly released music video of the title track “Say My Name.” Throughout the broadcast, the boys casually sang and danced some parts of the song, giving fans a taste of the new album.

When asked how they spent their brief hiatus, the boys revealed they put all their efforts into prepping for the new album release. This time, the members practiced dance moves even harder because the choreography was difficult and they wanted to put on a good performance for the fans that have waited for their return.

The boys showed off their new hairdos, with Seonghwa’s bleached yellow hair and Wooyoung’s gray hair stealing the spotlight. “It was my first time bleaching and I had no idea it hurt this much,” said Seonghwa.

They were asked by fans to describe the album using one word. Mingi said “name,” representing its title track “Say My Name,” while Seonghwa said “proud” and Yunho mentioned “trumpet,” for the instrument appearing on its music video. Wooyoung mentioned “dance” while San said “ATEEZ presence.” Yeosang said “Atiny,” referring to the name of Ateez’s fan club and Hongjoong said “energy.” Jongho picked “treasure,” saying the album was like a treasure for him, as well as his fellow bandmates and the fans.

Members also shared what inspire them.

“I watch clip of seonbae (older, more experienced) groups’ performance and music videos to learn from them,” said Wooyoung.

“I like watching dramas. Watching dramas is helpful when I write lyrics of the songs,” said Mingi.

San said he got inspiration from films and the lights of the street lamps on the streets.

“I want to shine, and maybe that’s why I was able to record our song ‘Light’ well,” he said, while the members gave a sneak peek to the song.

“During our hiatus, fans sent us a lot of letters and reading them gave us lot of strength,” said Hongjoong. “We practice dance movements a lot, so when we see each other dancing, we all get inspiration.”

Jongho revealed watching web drama and reading film scripts are inspirational, in addition to fan’s hand-written letters.

“I watch dance choreography of artists around the world,” said Yunho.

ATEEZ proved they are the up-and-rising rookie of the town, when their live show exceeded 300,000 views during the show. Toward the end, the broadcast garnered more than 420,000 hits. The boys stood in ovation to the viewers to thank them.

Wrapping up an upbeat hourlong session, the members shared their New Year’s Resolution, hoping this year would be a milestone year as the band kicks off activities and meets with fans with their new release.

“As we were preparing for a comeback, we watched many year-end music award shows. This year, we would like to perform at these programs as well,” said Yunho.

“It will be great if we can receive the ‘rookie of the year’ award,” said Seonghwa.
