K-pop duo MXM made rice cake soup, or tteokguk, for the first time, in celebration of the new year.

During a recent V Live broadcast from a kitchen, the duo decided to make the dish, which is traditionally eaten as South Koreans ring in the new year.

Wearing black aprons, the two played rock-paper-scissors to decide which member would use which ingredient.

Im Young-min won all three rounds, securing broth, dumplings and rice cakes.

The two were busy switching between cooking and reading the recipe as well as chatting to viewers.

Viewers soon saw the duo immersed in cooking, whisking and chopping. After nearly an hour, the two served the final product before putting dried seaweed as a garnish on top.

The two seemed rather pleased as they took a photo of the dish they made, and repeatedly said “tasty” after tasting the food.
