Twice’s Jeongyeon gets a surprise birthday party in Mongolia

Twice members threw a surprise birthday party for bandmate Jeongyeon in Mongolia, where they shot the music video for “The Best Thing I Ever Did,” showed a video released Saturday.

The clip, titled “Twice TV ‘The Best Thing I Ever Did’ EP.01,” captured the nine members of the K-pop group filming individual and group scenes for the track off album “The Year of Yes,” released Dec. 12.

Jeongyeon, apparently not knowing what the day had in store for her, tried to catch popcorn in her mouth while preparing for a scene in which the members watch “Twice Land,” their concert documentary film, in a cinema.

In the next scene, the members prepared to shoot a party scene, sitting around a big table with Christmas decorations. That’s when a staff member came in with a cake and the members shouted “Happy Birthday.”

Ha Jung-woo, Lee Sun-kyun promote “Take Point” on V

Ha Jung-woo and Lee Sun-kyun, stars from the upcoming action thriller film “Take Point,” took to V Live on Saturday.

"We’re at Busan Cinema Center. There will be a special screening event here soon,” Ha said at the start of the 18-minute video. It was the second broadcast aired by the two to promote the movie, after the first on Dec. 14.

Directed by Kim Byung-woo, best-known for the 2013 film “The Terror Live,” “Take Point” centers on a private military company -- a group of elite mercenaries hired for a secret CIA mission to abduct North Korea’s defense minister in an underground bunker below the Demilitarized Zone, which separates the two Koreas. Its Korean title is “PMC: The Bunker.”

Ha and Lee shared reactions from their family members after watching the film. Lee quoted his wife, actress Jun Hye-jin, as saying, “Director Kim may well go straight to Hollywood now,” while Ha said his father, veteran actor Kim Yong-gun, said the movie was “restless and chaotic.”

The actors then described the film as high energy, high speed, highly immersive and intensive, and asked the audience to relax and enjoy the ride.

“The movie will raise your heartbeat,” Lee said.

“Take Point” opens at local theaters on Dec. 26.

Red Velvet’s Irene makes purple macarons with old friend

S.M. Entertainment released a video of Red Velvet’s Irene via V Live on Saturday.

The 15-minute video kicks off with Iren saying “I just missed a train!”

The member of the K-pop girl group, however, apparently found the incident funny, as she couldn’t stop laughing. “I told (my manager) it was the train No. 8,” she said trying to make a sobbing sound between laughs.

Irene managed to get on the right train to her hometown of Daegu, where she met her old friend who runs a macaron shop.

“She liked purple. So I came to like purple,” Iren said, introducing the friend who remained off camera. “This is our friendship ring,” she said showing a ring she was wearing.

With the help of the friend, Irene tried making macarons -- purple ones -- for the first time.

The video follows Irene as she returns home to Seoul by train, and in the next scene, Irene hops on a plane to Japan to shoot an advertisement.
