After wowing audiences with his acting in “Dear Husband of 100 Days” and “Swing Kids,” Do Kyung-soo of EXO has taken on a new challenge -- voice acting for the animated South Korean film “The Underdog.”

At a press conference held in Seoul on Friday to promote the movie, the singer-turned-actor talked about his role in the film. He provides the voice for Moongchi, a pet dog whose adventure on the streets brings him into contact with freedom-loving homeless dogs with colorful personalities.

“The story of the dogs struggling till the end in search of freedom was really touching for me. I tried to depict Moongchi’s dream with my voice,” he said.

Do, who lives with two dogs, added that his work on the film made him miss his pets and realize the importance of their presence.

In response to a comment that he and Moongchi genuinely resembled each other, he said, “I was bit surprised. Moongchi is a character full of passion and curiosity, and I think we have similar characters in that way.”

“The Underdog” will hit local theaters Jan. 16.
