Rapper Mino of Winner told fans in a recent V Live broadcast that he’d “grated his soul” into his debut solo album.

Mino, whose first solo record will be released in a few hours, said the album was full of greed and desire and that he had taken out out what was unnecessary to make it “awesome and cool.”

“I wanted listeners to add their thoughts,” the rapper said before using the following five words in connection with his new work: “hope,” “desire,” “anguish,” “love,” “despair” and “trigger,” the last of which happens to be the title of the first track.

Asked about the title track, “Fiance,” which samples trot music, also known as “ppongjjak,” he called the song “trot-hip-hop.”

Sounding confident, the rapper said, “You’d know why if you listened,” though he said it was hard to put a finger on the song’s style.
But the ambiguity of the song is the very reason it was chosen as the lead single.

“When you think of Mino, and a completely different kind of song comes out rather than what is expected, I think it can catch listeners off guard,” the rapper said.
