After sticking with Latin pop for the past few months, Super Junior has become the first Korean act to be invited to one of Mexico’s most popular award shows.

Representing the act, Label SJ said Wednesday that Super Junior is set to attend the Telehit Awards, an awards show to be held by Mexico’s biggest music channel, Telehit, on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

At the event, the band will perform hits like “Sorry Sorry,” “Mr Simple” and “One More Time,” as well as a remake of Luis Miguel’s “Ahora Te Puedes Marchar” in Spanish.

Big-name stars like One Direction, The Chainsmokers and Alan Walker had headlined the event in the past. However, it is the first time Telehit Awards has invited a Korean act, said the agency.

Super Junior has been riding high on the Latin pop wave recently, releasing two Latin-inspired albums since April, which helped the group make inroads into Latin American countries.

Its single “Lo Siento,” a collaboration with Leslie Grace and Play-n-Skillz, became the first-ever K-pop song to appear on a Latin Billboard chart when it debuted at No. 13 on the Latin digital song sales chart.

Its latest single “One More Time,” the lead track off the group’s new Latin-tinged album of the same title, also landed atop iTunes charts in 26 countries following its release in October.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Telehit Awards will be held at the Estadio Azteca, which will accommodate about 70,000 people.
