They might be household names now, but six years ago, BTS members had to resort to name tags to identify themselves.

A recent episode of SBS’ current affairs program “SBS Special” featured an interview clip of the group’s early days that took place exactly five days after its debut in 2013.

In the video, the seven boys wore heavy makeup and black and white hip-hop styled outfits that showed each of their names written in white, bold lettering.

Asked how many days had passed since the group’s debut, RM, who is seen wearing black shades and a gold chain necklace, answered, “It’s only been five days. We are super rookies.”

Suga also explained that they were wearing shirts that were printed with their names in order to help program directors to identity them.

“Directors don’t know our names yet since we are rookies,” Suga said, and RM added, “I will wear this shirt until people recognize me with just my face.”

They certainly don’t need those shirts now.

Having recently made a stop in Korea amid its ongoing world tour series, BTS will hold a dome tour in Japan that includes legs in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka in November.
