IZ*ONE is the latest group to be launched as a result of the popular audition show “Produce 101,” broadcast on Mnet. The first teaser to the group’s debut single, “La Vie en Rose,” was released Thursday at midnight and had already hit a million likes as of Friday morning.

“Produce 101” kicked off in 2016 as a “survival” audition show, where viewers could choose their favorites from a pool of 101 aspiring young K-pop stars. Eleven winners were chosen through a vote and went on to form a group.

The first group that “Produce 101” gave Korea was I.O.I, which ran for a year. The band members split up to form their own bands, with one -- Chungha -- pursuing a solo career.

The second season of the show was even more successful than the first. Featuring an all-boy cast, the 11-episode season debuted 11 boys as Wanna One, which quickly rose to stardom, placing the band on a par with a few K-pop heavyweight boy bands such as EXO.

Will IZ*ONE, the latest offshoot from the three-year show, prove to be a worthy successor?

“La Vie en Rose” will be released Monday at 6 p.m.
