Joy and Wendy of Red Velvet clearly have perfect chemistry both on and offstage, but Joy confessed that their personalities clashed at first.

The Monday episode of Lifestyle’s reality show “Pajama Friends” featured Joy and Wendy of Red Velvet talking about how they became best friends despite not getting along when they first worked together.

“Now I depend a lot on Wendy, as she is the person I share secrets with the most. But we weren’t on good terms during our trainee days due to our different personalities,” Joy said.

Joy went on to explain that, unlike Wendy, who was selfless and self-sacrificing, she prioritized her privacy.

“I can survive on my own,” Joy used to say.

The disparities between their personalities caused many misunderstandings, she explained.

The icebreaking moment came when Joy opened up about how Wendy’s personality made her uncomfortable.

“Wendy always used to ask me so many questions, such as ‘Where did you go?’ and ‘Who did you go with?’ and ‘When did you get home?’ So I told her one day that I didn’t feel comfortable with her questioning me like that,” Joy said.

“But Wendy’s answer made me realize that she actually had a good heart. She said, ‘Thank you. I wouldn’t have known if you hadn’t told me.’”

Wendy chimed in and said, “By that time, I liked Joy so much that I wanted to know everything about her.”

Cheers to their everlasting friendship!
