Actor Park Hae-jin’s 2019 firefighter calendar will hit two online stores, GMarket and Auction, Nov. 1.

The money from calendar sales will go to firefighters who need treatment for burns and to the bereaved families of firefighters killed on the job.

Due to a budget shortfall the calendars were almost discontinued, but Park volunteered to model for free and also asked for help from his photographer friend Lee Su-jin.

“A hundred percent of the profits from this calendar will go to help the working conditions of Korea’s firefighters and the bereaved families of firefighters who died at their posts,” Park said.

“Please give this campaign your warm support.”

Park plans to purchase some calendars himself and gift them to his friends and colleagues. Park’s photo cards are included as bonus gifts.

The average lifespan of a firefighter in South Korea is 58.8 years, the lowest among public servants. The number of firefighters who are psychologically traumatized as a result of their work is five to 10 times that of an average worker.

Park has previously donated his services to benefit the families of the Sewol ferry victims, as well as to a children’s hospital, relief efforts after the Gyeongju earthquake and other good causes.
