Black Pink is stepping up its efforts to expand its presence in the global market, having recently teamed up with Interscope Records, one of the biggest music labels within the US-based Universal Music Group.

Representing the act, YG Entertainment said Tuesday that the agency has inked a deal with the US record label to promote the four-piece K-pop act more globally, outside of Asia.

Considered one of the “Big Three” record labels along with Sony Music and Warner Music Group, Universal represents big-name acts like Eminem, Kendric Lamar, Maroon 5, U2, Guns and Roses and Zedd.

“We will work closely with the biggest music company, Universal Music Group, globally for the successful global debut and promotion of Black Pink,” said YG founder Yang Hyun-suk in a statement.

“In addition, we will do our best to help other YG artists to break through the North American and European territories as well.”

Sir Lucian Grainge, chairman and CEO of Universal, also shared his vision for the partnership, saying, “Chairman Yang has built YG Entertainment into a global music powerhouse with an impressive track record of breaking artists. I’m thrilled to expand our relationship with YG through the addition of Black Pink to the Interscope family.”

Having debuted in 2016 with singles “Whistle” and “Boombayah,” Black Pink has been breaking records and topping charts nonstop despite having released fewer than 10 songs.

In July, the act saw massive success with its first EP, “Square Up,” featuring lead track “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du,” which topped the iTunes album charts in 44 countries upon its release.

Black Pink is set to hold its first concert Nov. 10-11 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul.
