Jungkook's real talk with fans

Jungkook of BTS went live Wednesday morning and opened up about his recent foot injury.

First, the youngest member of BTS looked back on the day he got injured.

“I was actually feeling really great that morning and thought the show was going to be great,” he said. “Even my parents came to see me in Europe and I was pretty psyched about the whole thing.”

Jungkook explained that he hurt his foot while warming up before the show.

“After the rehearsal (for the concert) was over, I was working out to get warmed up and that was when I hurt my foot,” he said. “I thought it wasn’t a big deal at first but it turned out to be pretty bad.”

While Jungkook didn’t miss the “Love Yourself” tour in London, held at the O2 Arena, he couldn’t pull off the complex choreography and ended up in tears in front of the fans.

“I wanted to be on the stage so badly, but we had other shows lined up after this one and I was forced to be strategic about it,” he said.

“I felt so bad about it and I kept blaming myself for not being careful,” said Jungkook, whose face was grim as he recalled the unfortunate incident. “I couldn’t hold back my tears.”

Nonetheless, Jungkook said he’d learned from the experience.

For one thing, he said, he shouldn’t have been so emotional on stage no matter how upset he was.

“(Being upset) can’t be an excuse for me (to cry during a show),” he said. “I should have disguised (those feelings) better. That’s the mature thing to do.

“I loved meeting the fans at the concert, but I felt incredibly sorry for how I behaved. It embarrassed me, looking back,” Jungkook said, promising that “if there ever comes another chance, (he will) show the fans” what he couldn’t do that night because of his injury.

Another thing Jungkook learned from the injury was the importance of alone time.

“I was able to have a lot of time by myself, which forced me to reflect on myself,” he said. “I thought to myself how I have so much more to learn, and I think it gave me a chance to be more mature and professional.”

Jungkook also asked for his fans’ understanding, and there was sincerity in his words. It was clear how sorry he felt about not giving his best performance because of his foot injury.

“I don’t usually drink, but I was feeling so bad about myself that I got tipsy and fell asleep in my room.”

While Jungkook tried to make his injury sound like it wasn’t a big deal, he admitted during a recent appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” that his foot had required stitches.
