[V Report Plus] How RM of BTS crafted his inspirational UN speech
BTS speaks at the UN General Assembly in New York on Sept. 24. (Yonhap) |
The BTS leader made time in his busy schedule to prepare for his speech with a little bit of consultation from the group’s label Big Hit Entertainment.
The speech is very personal and autobiographical, beginning with the story of RM’s hometown Ilsan, a city just north of Seoul.
As evident in the personal details, the speech is entirely written by RM himself who spent extra hours each day on it.

“Some may not believe it, but most thought we were hopeless. Sometimes I just wanted to quit. But I think I was very lucky that I didn’t give it all up. But I think I was very lucky that I didn’t give it all up. (…) If there’s anything I achieved, it was only possible because I had other BTS members right by my side, and because of the love and support that our fans all over the world gave us. (…) Maybe I made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday’s me is still me. Today, I am who I am with all of my faults and mistakes. Tomorrow, I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that will be me too. Those faults and mistakes are what I am (…) I have come to love myself for who I am, for who I was, and for who I hope to become.”
