Competing against global pop phenomenon BTS was a memorable experience for Weki Meki.

Sei and Lucy of the girl group said that they had never imagined their song “Lucky” would vie for the top spot on SBS MTV’s “The Show” against BTS’ “DNA” and that the experience left them honored and “smiling all day.”

In a photo shoot and interview with the local magazine bnt, the pair said they were eager to finally meet fans with their first single “Kiss, Kicks,” set for release Thursday.

“Since fans have waited for so long, we just want to greet them on stage. We are preparing so hard, as they would have high expectations,” they said.

Weki Meki, which debuted in 2017, has been touting “teen crush” as its main appeal. It said this was a combination of teenager and girl crush, which refer to both their youthful charm and feminine side.

With their career ahead of them, the young singers vowed to keep growing as musicians.

“I want to be a singer than has a positive influence over other people,” said Sei, while Lucy said she wanted to have a strong stage presence one day, like that of K-pop star Sunmi.
