Sunmi enjoyed a lengthy reign of the charts throughout last month, with her latest single “Siren” reliving the success of her Wonder Girls days in terms of chart performance.

The former member of girl group Wonder Girls dominated major online streaming charts including Mnet, Melon and Genie. She was also crowned winner of the week on major weekly music programs in Korea.

Her return has been hailed as “victorious” by fans and the media. The EP “Warning,” consisting of her hit singles “Gashina,” “Heroine” and “Siren,” cemented her identity as an artist after leaving her former agency JYP Entertainment.

Her chart performance is all the more impressive given that September was one of the toughest months of the year for K-pop, as the singer fended off competition from the likes of Girls’ Generation’s subunit Oh!GG and BTS.
