MBC’s reality show “Real Men 300” is a revamped version of “Real Men,” which depicted celebrities undergoing a grueling Army training program.

The new show has an outstanding cast and an even tougher training program -- one that promises to show us an elite group of celebrity soldiers.

Joining the press conference for the show on Tuesday were regular cast members Kang Ji-hwan, Matthew Douma, Yang Hong-seok, Kim Jae-hwa, Lee Yu-bi and Shin Ji. The Korean-born Russian speed skater Victor Ahn, actor Kim Ho-young, Lisa of Black Pink and actress Oh Yoon-ah were unable to attend due to other commitments.

Actor Kang Ji-hwan, who recently played the lead role in an OCN drama titled “Children of a Lesser God,” has a reputation for excellence in everything he does. This is his first stint as a regular member of a reality show.

Matthew Douma, perhaps better known as the father of I.O.I singer Jeon So-mi, surprised the audience with a roaring “Fighting!” We’re sure the public will remember him as more than “So-mi’s father” now.

Pentagon’s Yang Hong-seok, who has yet to fulfill his military duty, said the show gave him a taste of what was in store for him soon.

Actresses Kim Jae-hwa and Lee Yu-bi and singer Shin Ji are looking forward to showing the audience a different side of military training -- namely, how female celebrities measure up.

“Real Men 300” premieres Friday.
