After years of honing his skills as an artist, GOT7’s JB said he had received the approval of Park Jin-young, a head producer of JYP Entertainment, for his new solo single.

During a press conference for the group’s new album, “Present: You,” in Seoul on Monday, the GOT7 leader introduced his solo track “Sunrise” and shared the story of how the song came into the world.

“I’ve been making bright songs for the group, usually, but personally I prefer moody songs that have sticky melodies,” he said.

“And in the process of making the song, I had different opinions on the song’s sonic direction with Park Jin-young, who suggested that I make the song richer in sound. But I told him that I wanted to forgo such embellishments and write a song that sounds good enough just with the lyrics. So I asked him to go with mine, and he finally accepted my opinion,” he said.

JB introduced his song as a blend of moody melodies and light lyrics, with lines such as “Let me enter your deep universe and heart.”

Having recently wrapped up its world tour, GOT7 released its third full-length album, “Present: You,” featuring the lead track “Lullaby,” Monday evening. The 16-track album contains solo tracks by every member of the group, with lyrics and music by all the band members.
