Kang Sung-hoon from veteran boy band Sechs Kies has dismissed rumors that he is dating the leader of his fan club.

In a statement released through his official fan club, “Hoony World,” the singer said the ongoing speculation about the rumored “girlfriend” was just a rumor and that there was no need to speak any further on the matter, saying it was “not even worth talking about.”

Despite his definitive statement, the singer faces yet more criticism after the cancellation of a fan meeting that was supposed to take place in Taiwan over the weekend.

Taiwanese media reported that the singer could face legal action for canceling the event -- but his fan club, which took part in organizing it, hit back, saying the responsibility lay with Woori Entertainment. The company, which was in charge of the Taiwan event, had failed to sort out visa issues promptly, the fan club insisted.

As the unflattering publicity surrounding the singer began to escalate, his agency, YG Entertainment, issued a statement expressing its regrets over the fan meeting fiasco.

The agency said Kang had been organizing fan meetings on his own, without the company’s involvement, but that it would look into the matter and prevent any recurrence.

The controversy comes as the reunited Sechs Kies is scheduled to play at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Jamsil, Seoul.
