RM talked about candidate tracks that didn’t make it on the final version of “Love Yourself: Answer.”

“I worked with Colde of offonoff on this track called ‘Old Future,’” he said. The BTS rapper said he drew inspiration for the song’s title from an exhibition he had seen.

“Old future is a paradox, right, how could the future be old?” he asked, explaining, “I thought it was the moment you meet someone for the
first time, and you know how you’re going to end up with this person already.”

RM interpreted the concept of “old future” in terms of the process of a relationship.

“Love repeats itself and you run into the same moments over and over again,” he said. “Which then makes you realize that you are essentially different people. You’re strangers. You realize it’s fake love and the love comes to an end.”

“The moment I met you I saw our future. We feel our differences. We feel the love is fake. That moment is what I call an ‘old future,’” he said.
While he tried to let viewers sneak a listen of the track, he didn’t have the full recording. “It’s just a draft, I can’t play it right now,” he said.
