Mwave’s weekly polls to find “K-pop’s best” have become a battleground for BTS and EXO, as the two K-pop champs take turns topping one poll after another.

Voter turnout for the past six polls from Jul. 8 through Saturday has averaged about 544,000 votes per poll -- a heavy response to the one-week polls.

For competitions that listed members from both BTS and EXO on the ballot, the number of votes exceeded well over 1 million. Two out of the six polls had K-pop’s two biggest fandoms competing against each other, with EXO and its fan group EXO-L coming out triumphant in each.

EXO’s Sehun won the title for being the best of the youngest in a K-pop group against BTS’ Jungkook by a slim margin of 4,951 votes. Sehun and Jungkook earned 47.8 percent and 47.4 percent, respectively, of the total 1,178,357 votes. EXO’s Kai and BTS’ Jimin met head-to-head to compete for “K-pop’s best dancer,” the former ultimately winning the title, also ahead by a slight lead of 47.9 percent of total votes (1,265,836) over the latter’s 47.5 percent.

In the rest of the four polls, no other K-pop act could prove to be a match for either BTS or EXO, allowing the two to completely dominate the voting. EXO’s Baekhyun won “K-pop’s best vocalist,” and BTS’ RM, J-Hope and Suga respectively won for best leader, best rapper and best producer.

Mwave is a K-pop online platform formed by entertainment company CJ E&M, which is also home to music show “M Countdown,” annual K-pop music convention “KCON” and the Mnet Asian Music Awards.
