Korean-American singer Eric Nam and his brothers Eddie Nam and Brian Nam bought an entire screening of “Crazy Rich Asians” in a show of support for the film featuring an all-Asian cast.

The singer took to Instagram and wrote that he’s giving away tickets to his fans, friends and family for the screening of the film at a cinema in Atlanta, Georgia, where he and his brother used to watch movies on the weekend.

Nam went on to say, “We’re tired of being under and misrepresented in mainstream media and we want decision makers to understand that WE ARE HERE, WE ARE ABLE, WE ARE INFLUENTIAL AND WE ARE IMPORTANT.”

Posting a screenshot of CNN’s article about his gesture of support on Friday, Nam said he and his brothers were looking into buying out another screening, hinting at Minneapolis as the next location.

Nam’s move is seen as an effort to help secure the film’s box office success during its opening week, as part of the #GOLDOPEN movement that was started by fans of the upcoming film across social media.

Eric, who was born in Atlanta, now lives in Seoul while his brothers Eddie and Brian are based in the US.
