Sports brand Puma released a new sneakers line called “Thunder” with K-pop star HyunA as its spokesmodel, Thursday.

HyunA, the ambassador for Puma Korea, participated in promotional videos and photos for the new line.

Puma described Thunder as an “ugly” shoe inspired both by the crude silhouette of ‘90s running shoes and a collaborative line of Alexander McQueen’s 2016 design.

In the photos released by Puma, HyunA donned various Thunder products. In one shot, the K-pop singer matches a floral-patterned dress with a cropped top. Puma said the look will become a trend for the second half of the year.

Puma’s campaign pitches the Thunder shoes as supernatural with the promotional sentence, “If you have thunder on, something extraordinary and miraculous will happen.” Videos featuring HyunA are to release in sequence each Thursday for three weeks via Puma’s official website and Instagram.

The ivory shoes Thunder Spectra, which HyunA put on in photos and videos, is a limited edition exclusively sold in Korea starting Friday. The black shoes, which previously launched in a small quantity in May, will be released again on Aug. 17.

Those wishing to view the products in person can do so at the Thunder Space pop-up store in Ikseon-dong, Seoul, on Wednesday.
