Upon its return Wednesday, Triple H explained why Hui, a Pentagon member known for his songwriting skills, didn’t contribute to the group’s new songs.

Marking its summer comeback, the trio’s new EP “Retro Futurism” is fronted by lead track “Retro Future.” While both HyunA and E’Dawn participated in making the songs, Hui’s name wasn’t seen on the track list.

“Before Triple H came out, the group talked a lot about what types of songs we would do. But Hui was doing a songwriting program and was writing two to three songs a week. We were going to ask him to write our songs, but I felt so bad because he was so busy, so we carried on writing the song without him,” said E’Dawn during a showcase for the new album in Seoul on Wednesday.

Nevertheless, even without Hui’s songwriting genius, the group agreed that “although the album itself only has three songs, they are all very strong and convey the retro feel well. The jacket of the album and the MV were really carefully thought out to perfect our theme, too.”
