Park Min-young’s work before ‘Secretary Kim’

Actress Park Min-young is enjoying great popularity as the ever-smiling, hard-working secreatary to a chairman who become romantically involved with her boss in comedic drama “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim.”

For those who are not familiar wtih Park’s previous works, it may seem like she is an overnight success. However, her extensive resume is proof that she put in her hours before becoming famous.

Here are some of Par‘s past projects:

1. “Unstoppable High Kick! “(2006-07)


Park entered the world of television dramas with this sitcom about a seemingly typical family. The plot revolves around two brothers with completely opposite personalities. Park plays the role of Kang Yoo-mi, the beautiful, yet ditzy girlfriend dating the obedient and intelligent brother.

2. “Sungkyunkwan Scandal” (2010)

This was Park’s big break. Her character, Kim Yoon-hee, a disguises herself as her brother to earn more money for their family during the Joseon era. After working odd jobs, she receives has an opportunity to attend the prestigious Sungkyunkwan University where she must remain undercover as a man, despite her classmates’ mischievous attempts to reveal her identity.

3. “City Hunter” (2011)


“City Hunter” begins with the bombing in Myanmar in which North Korean agents killed several Korean government officials. To strike back, Korea initiates an operation to kill high-ranking North Korean officials. In a plot full of twists, anticipation, and drama, Park portrays Kim Na-na, a skilled bodyguard of the presidential security service, who becomes involved with a love interest while on the job.

4. “Healer” (2014-15)


An action-packed thriller and love story all in one, Park plays two characters: Her current persona as Chae Young-shin and Oh Ji-an, her past identity as a lost child. Young-shin aims to be a legendary reporter and joins a team to uncover the truth behind an incident involving an underground pro-democracy broadcasting station during authoritarian rule of Chun Doo-hwan regime, but her traumatic past affects her work.

5. “Queen for Seven Days” (2017)


Park plays Shin Chae-kyung, who becomes a queen tied up in a tragic love story dating back to 1506. Seven days after being crowned, she loses her throne because her political rivals dislike her dedication to justice as well as political views and expel her from the palace, forcing her to live apart from her husband, the king.

Park has has appeared in many programs since her “Unstoppable High Kick!” days. But despite her many years on the screen, she told the press that “While living as an actress, I have actually never gotten tired of my lifestyle, which proves to me that I really love acting.”

Park has had limited, but various roles in films, Chinese dramas, and music videos as well. She is set to be cast in Netflix’s first television program with an all-Korean cast, “Busted!”
