GOT7 hit New York this week as a part of a world tour. The group is making stops in three US cities ? Los Angeles, Houston and New York ? where local fans apparently couldn’t have been more excited, as demonstrated by the roaring cheers the band received from a crowd at Times Square in Manhattan.

GOT7 dropped by Times Square’s Line Friends store Wednesday, and flashing on the electric board behind them was a headline that read “GOT7 2018 World Tour EYES ON YOU.” While the live broadcast they uploaded on Naver’s V Live from the venue is only 2 1/2 minutes long, the group’s excitement could not be masked.

GOT7 is the first K-pop act to put on a show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Kyungri and her ‘sexy’ male backup dancers

Kyungri’s solo debut on July 5 was certainly one of the highly anticipated releases this summer, and one thing that has gotten a ton of attention for her new song is the dance team backing her up.

As teased in trailers prior to the official release, the choreography to her solo song features male dancers in strappy-backed tops and heels -- an anomaly in the K-pop scene. The dance practice video released Wednesday was also highlighted by the male dancers’ sexy dance moves next to Kyungri’s charismatic presence.

Kyungri’s first-ever solo release “Blue Moon” lists the single lead track “Last Night.” The 28-year-old debuted with Nine Muses in 2012 as the latest addition to the group that had frequent seen band members departing.

Baby Soul celebrated her 26th birthday with fans via a live broadcast on Naver’s V app.

“Thank you all for all the birthday wishes. I appreciate it,” the Lovelyz leader told fans. Jiae joined her during the broadcast to greet fans and also wish her bandmate a happy birthday.

K-pop acts have developed a culture of livestreaming birthday celebrations to share the occasion with fans, albeit online.

Lovelyz debuted in 2014 with the “Girls’ Invasion” EP under Woollim Entertainment, becoming the music label’s first girl group.

Naver’s real-time broadcasting app V allows fans to interact with their favorite K-pop stars through live broadcasts. The app is available for Android and iOS. For more information, visit http://www.vlive.tv.
