In its seventh year in the K-pop scene, Apink said it is well over the “seven-year curse.”

During a showcase for its new EP “One & Six” in Seoul on Monday, the group was asked about how it is dealing with the “seven-year curse,” which has plagued plenty of K-pop bands and led them to disbandment in the past. The term refers to whether a group is able to maintain its seven-year contract without any troubles or disbandment. It was coined after several K-pop acts -- including 2NE1, 4Minute, Rainbow, Miss A and Secret -- broke up at the seven-year mark.

Fortunately, Apink said it was standing firm, sharing that the members have already renewed their contracts with the agency.

“We don’t have major concerns over the issue. We know each other’s thoughts and plans, as all of us have renewed our contracts,” Jung Eun-ji said.
“We braced ourselves and made resolutions. I hope to see what we can do more in the future, and we will do our best so that our decisions to renew the contracts don’t go in vain,” she added.

The six-track EP, released Monday evening, is led by lead track “Not Even One.”
