“Our biggest goal for this year is to receive a rookie award at the end of the year. Since we are a rookie group, I hope more people will get to know us,” said Lee Sae-rom during a media showcase for the nine-piece group’s new EP in Seoul on Tuesday.

The six-track EP is fronted by the lead track “DKDK,” a fusion synth pop song rich with cheerful synths and beats that express the excitement of love. Members Song Ha-young, Park Ji-won and Lee Seo-yeon participated in writing lyrics for the song. The EP also includes “Clover,” “Girl from 22th century” and “First Love.”

“I have a lot of interest in songwriting and working on music. I feel so proud and happy to have participated in writing our lead track. It feels like taking a step nearer to my dream,” Ha-young said.

Seo-yeon said that Ha-young writes a diary every day to share her feelings.

The group will promote the new EP without Jang Gyu-ri, who is not able to participate in group activities due to conflicting schedules. Jang is currently being featured in the Mnet audition program “Produce 48.”

“We feel sorry about not having Jang with us, but we promised to do our best in our positions. We will feel her vacancy and do our best to promote fromis_9,” Sae-rom said.

Fromis_9 is made up of winners of “Idol School,” an audition show that aired on Mnet last year. The band debuted with its first EP “To. Heart” in January.
