“Avengers: Infinity War” became the fastest foreign movie to break the 10 million ticket sales mark here Sunday, 19 days after it opened with a bang.

According to Walt Disney Korea, the latest film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe reached the mark at 1:30 p.m., breaking the record previously held by its predecessor in the series, “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which did so in 25 days.

It is the 21st movie in Korean cinema to sell 10 million or more tickets, and the fifth foreign movie to do so. The other films are “Interstellar,” “Frozen” and “Avatar,” which holds the record for best
commercial success for a foreign film with 13.7 million tickets sold.

“Infinity War” is also the most successful movie of the year so far. It is the only film of 2018 to break the 10 million mark. It also holds the record for the biggest opening ever at the Korean box office with 980,000 tickets, and the most number of tickets prereserved at 1.22 million.

The Korean box office ranks movies in terms of the number of tickets sold, not revenue.
