K-pop group TWICE has sold over 2.2 million albums in South Korea since its debut, data showed on Tuesday.

The combined number of records sold by the nine-member act stood at 2,222,981 as of Sunday, JYP Entertainment said, citing data from Gaon Chart, South Korea's main music sales tracker.

The figure represents the combined sales of the group's eight releases, including five EP albums, since debuting in October 2015.

Since its debut with "OOH-AHH," TWICE has become a reputable force in today's K-pop scene, churning out back-to-back hits, including "Cheer Up," "TT," "Knock Knock," "Signal," "Likey" and "Heartshaker."

TWICE plans to kick off its second world tour in May by holding concerts at Jamsil Gymnasium in Seoul from May 18-20. The band is scheduled to hold two concerts in Japan from late May to early June. (Yonhap)
