Actor Park Hae-jin shared his thoughts about planting trees in China and why he values a production’s success over his own satisfaction.

Park has recently joined a campaign to reduce fine dust by donating 6,000 trees to China in response to his Chinese fans who initially began the movement by planting 520 trees to help combat desertification in western China.

“The reason I donated trees originated from my wish that my nephews wouldn’t live with polluted air when they grow up,” said Park during an interview for a recent photo shoot for a local fashion magazine.

“I prioritize elderly, children and the poor when making a donation.”

Asked what Park values more between the success of a drama or movie or his own satisfaction with the work, the actor chose the former option, saying, “I feature in commercial productions and receive love from the public. If dramas or movies don’t make a hit, than some production companies have to shut down and some see damages from it.”

“I hope to minimize the blow at least, and I also act with such thoughts in mind,” he added.

Park rose to fame in China for his role in the 2011 Chinese drama “Qian Duo Duo Get Married,” which became a nationwide sensation.

Park is set to star in SBS’ upcoming drama series “Four Men.”
