Rumors of Kim Jong-kook’s high school days were cleared up in the latest episode of web variety show “Big Picture,” which aired via Naver’s V app Tuesday.

The second season of the program features Kim and TV personality Haha running an advertisement agency to earn production costs for a TV drama featuring top Hallyu stars.

In one recent episodes, it was revealed that a client of Kim and Haha’s agency had been Kim’s high school classmate.

In Tuesday’s episode, the client was asked what kind of student Kim was at the time.

“The rumors say that Jong-kook used to beat people up and keep them in line; that there was someone who got a broken nose; and that he got invited to join the Anyang Tigers,” he said, referring to a reputed gang in Korea.

Despite the rumors, the fellow alum depicted Kim as a righteous person.

“Our high school was next to a middle school,” he said. “When Jong-kook heard the story that the middle school kids got their money stolen, he and his friends warned ‘Don’t mess up with the kids from our school,’ whenever they faced some kids who were up to no good.”

“He was the sheriff!” Haha responded.
