Ban Si-hyuk, the famed music producer and creator of K-pop sensation BTS, has provided a song to a rookie teen pop band that debuted less than a year ago, the latter's agency said on Thursday.

"Bang Si-hyuk produced the title song for IZ's second EP album scheduled to be released on May 1," Musik K Entertainment, IZ's management agency, said.

Bang is the founder and CEO of Big Hit Entertainment, the management company behind BTS. The last time Bang was involved in a project outside of Big Hit was for K-pop diva Baek Ji-young for her 2008 hit, "Like Being Hit By A Bullet."

The Big Hit chief was reportedly impressed by the up-and-coming band after watching its cover of 2AM's "Never Let You Go" at a live concert last November.

IZ (pronounced "eyes") debuted last August by releasing its first EP album "All You Want." Before its official debut, the teen pop rock band built an underground following by holding more than 100 live shows. (Yonhap)
