IU explained about the controversial violent scene from the first episode of her recent drama “My Mister” in a live broadcast held via Naver’s V app Thursday ahead of the airing of its second episode.

The first episode of the drama showed a loan shark Lee Gwang-il, played by Jang Ki-yong, committing cruel violence against Lee Ji-an, played by IU. Lee, while getting hit, says, “You like me, don’t you?”

Many viewers expressed their displeasure for direct depiction of violence, especially from man to woman. They also suggested the possibility of romanticizing the violence as an expression of love as the character description of Gwang-il said that he constantly bullies Ji-an to make his presence felt.

IU said in Thursday’s V app broadcast that “the relationship between Ji-an and Gwang-il will be the most antagonistic in the drama” while saying that it is a spoiler.

“As (we) fought so fiercely in the first episode, I don’t think I can love such person,” she said. “Lee Ji-an and Lee Gwang-il have past stories. (The drama) will unfold the back stories of the two, so look forward to that.”

The new Wednesday-Thursday drama tells a story of how three middle-aged brothers, crushed under the weight of their lives, and Lee, a cold-hearted woman, come to heal each other’s scars from the past.

Choi Tae-joon communicated with his fans in a live broadcast held via Naver’s V app Thursday.

In the broadcast held in collaboration with Christian humanitarian aid organization Compassion and Naver’s donation service Happybean, the actor had to accomplish a mission -- making a card -- to secure a donation.

“It is fun to make a card myself,” he said. “I think it will be good if I make cards on my own for people I value.”

“I’m not all thumbs but I’m bad at controlling my strength so I often break something,” he said. “But I will try to make it well without breaking it.”

During the broadcast, he also updated his fans on how he’s been. He said he had been filming a one act drama.

“I felt so fun while filming. It was a happy moment,” he said. “I think the character was true to his heart.”

“There were many scenes where the character ran. I increased my lower body strength,” he said.

Boy band The Boyz tried on traditional clothes in a video released via Naver’s V app Thursday.

In the video, which was filmed in Jeonju Hanok Village, a cultural village with traditional Korean houses, the group headed to a hanbok shop.

They decided to play rock-paper-scissors to decide losers to wear a women’s Hanbok. It was later decided by the suggestion of the owner of the shop that the winners would wear the women’s hanbok.

After the game, Q and Sangyeon wore women’s hanbok.

“He looks so beautiful,” Sunwoo said seeing Sangyeon wearing Uhwudong style hanbok. Uhwudong is a Korean dancer, writer, artist and poet in the Joseon Dynasty.

“He (Sangyeon) smiles like a girl,” New said.

When walking around the village, the two boasted their womanly beauty saying that people on the street are all looking at them because they were pretty.
