KBS 2TV's reality show asking a stranger for a night's stay rose on the weekly TV ratings chart despite its controversial concept, data showed Tuesday.

The show titled "One Night Sleepover Trip" jumped 11 spots to rank eighth on the Content Power Index (CPI) for March 5-11, with a score of 218.7.

The program started as a two-episode pilot during last year's Chuseok holiday and its high viewership rating of over 10 percent helped it become a regular show in February.

Cast members go overseas and ask a stranger they meet on the street for a night's stay at his or her house. The concept has been viewed as being inappropriate and even rude, but somehow the show waded successfully through negative reviews to feature some interesting and moving stories.

In the episode that was aired on March 6, an Italian girl whose family let the cast members sleep over at her house during last year's pilot program was invited to Korea to meet K-pop boy band BIGBANG, her favorite idol group.

Meanwhile, MBC's entertainment shows -- "King of Mask Singer," "Infinite Challenge" and "Radio Star" -- swept the top three spots of the CPI.

The index, created by CJ E&M and Nielsen Korea, measures the level of popularity and influence on consumer behavior of all entertainment TV programs aired on major terrestrial networks and cable channels during prime time. (Yonhap)
